Words and worlds

I sink into Autumn with the hope blowing around with the falling leaves, that peace may be allowed  to enter the lives of the Palestinian and Lebanese people. You cannot live life at the moment in a bubble. It is possible and important to step back here and there, to live in your life, find joy in the present moment. However, there are a multitude of awakenings at the moment across the world for the individual and collective. I find solace in community, and try, as many do to stand up where I can and voice an opposition to the extreme violence we witness.

And still, within my artistic world, I find my own joy and hope. My Living sculptural bench for Perth and Kinross council I completed late summer. The planting season has since re opened, and I have been told that the plants and tree are in the sculpture! There will be an opening of the road and Green Bridge and celebration of the sculpture - To be announced.
I have also received the news that I have been shortlisted for a Public art piece also in the East of Scotland. Final submission in December. Fingers crossed!
I have started a collaboration with Gallant at 'The Arc', Glasgow university, and am looking forward further collaboration.
I am delighted to perform with Graeme Miller (Cracks in the concrete) at the launch of Juana Adcock's poetry book -'Split',  on Sunday the 3rd of November at Mount Florida Book shop.

This weekend it's Open Studio at Hanson Street Studios! Maybe see you there!

Thankyou,
Breathe in the Autumn air deeply,
Free Palestine,

Love & solidarity,
Louise

Futility versus positivity

To feel a purpose, a reason in times of such universal upheaval and human suffering . What is the question here? Was it always so, or is suffering greater now. Or is there a universal awareness of the failing of our systems that is coming to some sort of crescendo?
Then we reach. We reach out for the moments. We reach out for each other. In the face of it all, we must keep building and resting on the true systems - that of community.

There will also be a candlelit dinner with readings from the writings of C.S.Lewis, and an 'Inklings of Oxford Fantasists tour' with Colin Duriez.
This is in advance of our exhibition highlighting the fantasy & Children's writing of George MacDonald with Glasgow museums in 2016 (also including Sven Werner)
