Eden Europa - Esch 2022

It was amazing to be invited to collaborate on project 'Eden Europa' for Esch city of culture, Luxembourg 2022.

Creative Scotland supported the Scottish input within the project, and also brought on board the work of Scottish textile artist Johanna Flanagan (The Pale Rook) and Blacksmith Agnes Jones.

Eden Europa is a travelling performance garden led by Man'ok - performance based duo (http://www.manok.org). Bringing together the different cultures of the territories, and with the assistance of Merci Raymond (French urban gardening start up) Paris's neglected pot plants get their own 'hospital'), it aims to shape the collective imagination through performance in relation to mythical and symbolic gardens (such as the hanging gardens of Babylon, garden of Eden, Garden of Hesperides, Hundertwasser’s garden of the dead) touring parts of France and Luxembourg near the border. The creative process will arise from exchanges with the inhabitants during artistic and educational workshops set up throughout the project (workshops on body language, musical expression, history of gardens, gardening, etc.). The project tackles a reflection on the identity of Europe through the prism of the European citizen and his environment, by going directly to the inhabitants.

‘Eden Europ’a seeks the answers, by listening, confronting and mixing the inhabitants of the territories, through dance (inspired from Japanese Butoh dance), musical creations and the design of gardens.
My sculptural ceramics now adorn the travelling vehicles and I had the pleasure of  running two community workshops in France and Luxembourg giving a talk about my work as part of the programme summer 2022. It will run until October.
